  • Sharon, this album is beautiful and very interesting. Thanks for sharing it with us. My almost 11 year old daughter would love to be at this sled dog race. She loves huskies, and enjoys reading about the Iditarod, Balto, sled dogs, etc. I'll have to show this to her and the Yukon Quest website. -47 degrees! Wow! I know Alaska is breathtakingly beautiful but I hate the cold (I know it's not cold all the time) so I guess I'll just have to enjoy it through all your wonderful photos in your albums. I like all the interesting information you provide too. Looking forward to seeing more. Rachel

  • Sharon, it's a great album - I saw a documentary on the race last year and enjoyed it - good education for we Australians! I was fascinated by the bootees on the huskies - what gorgous dogs they are. People keep them in Australia, too, but they just don't belong out here, especially in small back yards - it's quite special seeing them do what they were meant to do! Bye,

  • I have no idea what it must be like -47°F, I already feel too cold at 0°C (32°F), so you must have been really brave to face those temperatures! I even wonder how the camera could work. So thanks for it, you gave us a wonderful documentary of this event. Obviously I love huskies and I'd love to see one of these races for real. I look forward to the additions. Hugs, Ornella

  • Hello Sharon. Very brave of you in those extreme temperatures. What a wonderful race with those marvellous dogs and their beautiful fur coats. I can almost sense the cold from my comfortable airconditioned little cottage! Your excellent photography captures the scenes, and certainly creates the atmosphere of suspense and anticipation for the race. Thank you for sharing this wonderful atmosphere with us, through your excellent photography. Hugs. Margaret.

  • A wonderful album Sharon! We are having a dog sled race as we do every year from downtown Marquette across a large expanse. Nothing comparable to this amazing race. Its going to take place this month. Occasionally the temperatures are warmer which makes it hard to carry on. So far this February is much colder. Nothing like -49 however. If you can brave that, maybe I could take a few photos of our sled team race. Best wishes, Paula

Thank you to sharing this beautiful event with us even if this day was so cold. This winter, in Quebec City, we have much snow than usual... my house is almost an igloo. Big hugs Sharon and I hope to have much time for the computer in the next weeks, Marielle

  • Dearest Sharon, you have braved those -47 temperatures to bring to us this magnificent album. It is full of outstanding photos of a great evens. I also admire how you have captured the dogs. I have never known that they also wear covering on their feet. I take it that it stops ice building up between the toes. Your portrait work is also very good. I am not used to see people in your Pics. :-)) Thank you so much for letting us share that event. Well done my dear friend. Hugs Marlene

  • What a neat album. You took so many great action shots that the only thing we missed was the COLD. I really like the closeups of the dogs. It looks like they just live for these races. It was interesting to see how they now cover their feet and bodies to protect them from the cold. The ice around their mouths was amazing. Tks for the great show. Also, you looked pretty hot in your parka.

  • Sharon! This is a splendid and brave coverage of the Yukon race. Splendid because it gives a comprehensive view of the event, brave because you braved the extreme temperatures to take such excellent pictures. Last August, when we were on an Alaskan Cruise, there was a lady in the ship who was a winner in this race and gave a guest lecture. It is quite an ordeal both for the dogs and the mushers. It is, indeed, a celebration of the dominant spirit of the human being. Thanks for sharing this event with us. Also, thank you for all the kind comments in my Elavanam album. Much appreciated. Best wishes, Suresh

  • Some day I'm going to get to Alaska but not in -47 degree weather. I do like the snow, but not that much. You have some beautiful photos. Just wanted to thank you for your kind comments on my grandbabies. They were in the Government Camp album. It was such a surprise when I started getting comments. The snow cabin was my first POTD and I really wasn't exspecting it. Sharon

  • Sharon, You've some nice shots here and in this cold, the fire looks good enough to jump into, I'll bet. Sled dogs here practice for the Iditarod, but this mass of dogs and folks...your camera must've been 'singing'. Thanks for the show. ron

  • Hi Sharon, i love this. I enjoy it. I view the slide show many times last week. The extreme sport can inspire me to extravagaaaanza photos. With pleasure I would visit the runnings also once. Indeed I would not stand firm to the cold. How does your camera hold out? Now i looking forward. Next week i will travel to Berlin. There I also visit the motorcycle runnings on the ice. And I hope I manage a similarly good album, how to you. Wish me luck! Now i go to your next album. Many Greetings from the very east part of Germany. - Axel
