Album Description:
Billy Davis of Kenansville, FL, is a true working "Florida Cow Hunter." That's what "cowboys" are called in Florida, where ranching first began in America in 1521 (a hundred years before the Pilgrims landed).

Boy do this pics make me home sick. Cracker horse, cow dogs, and hard work that always seemed more like fun than work. I grew up in Florida and am a 5th generation Cracker. My grandmother still lives in Florida and still rides her Cracker horse. She's 86 this year. I sure enjoyed the pictures.

Hope to see your program sometime! Check out my new book, CRACKER COW, A Narrative of Florida History at www.crackercow.com. I have two programs scheduled for September 13th for Literacy Day at Paynes Prairie. Barbara from Homosassa

I just love the head on the left side of picture 13, and an interesting bridle. janneke/california
