The closest 'civilization' was the tiny town of Adel, Ore. Here Lil stands outside the Adel Store, the focal point of the small community and all the ranches in the area. This is just a few miles from the Nevada border in southeastern Oregon. This store was built in 1897 and has been in continuous use as a general store since that time.
