At the advice of a friend, Daniel, I cut blocks of wood to match the contour of the lower drive unit and the 2 vertical boards. I then bedded them in a mix of epoxy and chopped glass. Once partially cured, I the filled the remaning area with epoxy and cabosil. Additional braces were also glued and screwed.
