From 1500s thru 1800's belief was a very narrow chest required for a good cutting horse; today's Quarter Horse folks believe just the opposite

Thanks for the history, great picture, I should think it's a bit like the wippet breed of dog, for speed and agillity, an excellent breed to cross Lurchers (longdogs) with. I have horses aswell but for driving, not riding.
