Wrap the tips with toilet paper or paper towl or a cut out T shirt rectangle 2 x 5. Wet paper or cloth with water , squeeze out excess water . Wet but not dripping . Wrap that with tin foil about 3 x 7 fold the excess over the top side , or wrap around twice . Crinckle the edges where its open . When this is heated it keeps the steam in , it will rush out the back ( not out the tips ) eventualy . A popcorn popper makes very hot air that can be used instead of gas flame .No scoarch barrier needed !
