Album Info:

The Cimarron Golf Courses and Resort in Palm Springs,(actually it is in Cathedral City but it's all Palm Springs to us), is living proof that you don't have to be wealthy to stay and play in the Coachella Valley. The property is home to both the full size "Boulders" Course,(a full test of golfing skills), and the "Pebble Course", an excellent executive course that will challenge almost every club in your bag, and for many of us older duffers, every club. The best part for those who are mumbling something about the Palm Springs area being too expensive is THAT IT ISN'T....There are many great deals to be had, and I don't just mean in the Summer when it's too hot for a comfortable game much after first light. We have been going through and staying in the Palm Springs area for some time now. A good example would be our trip this year in mid February while it was snowy and cold in British Columbia and we decided to leave earlier than usual on our winter sojourn and stayed for 5 days in Palm Springs on our way to Phoenix and Tucson. We stayed at the "Caliente Tropics" Resort hotel and it averaged out at $47.00 a night for a very nice room, ate at medium priced but very good eateries and played golf, usually later in the day when you can get some amazing prices at many of the "Premium" courses in the area. Take Cimarron as an example. When we played the Pebbles course we got the "couples special", that was $40.00 for the two of us including cart. Anybody out there that can get that kind of deal on their local muni executive for that price??? We had played it before and this time was just as enjoyable on a day that was 74 degrees with a soft breeze. (hard to get a bad photo under those conditions.. There will be another album following this one which will contain short looks at a number of other courses in the area. The Southern California "RED DOT" golf guide can be found in many golf shops in southern California and for the $35.00 price will give 2 for 1 savings at some very classy properties.. We come from a beautiful area in British Columbia but we also enjoy the wide open spaces of the Desert Southwest and places like Palm Springs.
